I’m still suffering from indigestion over last nights debate. I tuned in late, just in time to watch Charlie Gibson “grill” Obama on the capital gains tax. As an Obama man I was disappointed in my candidates performance. Hilary was sailing through the format and Obama looked like he had just gone twelve rounds with Buster Douglas.
Note I did not say Tyson. No one goes twelve with Tyson.
I was surprised, really, that Obama didn’t push back a bit harder on Gibson’s asinine insistence on the sanctity of capital gains… I sometimes do think he’s too polite for his own good. Then I found out about the first hour of the debate.
Jesus rice.
No wonder Barry looked worn down. They asked him about the fucking Weather Underground? And now we’ve got every Clintonista running about calling the Obama camp folks “whiners”… well wasn’t your canidate crying in public just two months ago?
That’s not the point… that’s not the point and I’m sorry. We’re trying to raise the debate here… only you won’t let us. When we try you cut us down. When we respond to character attacks by saying “Hey, you’re going for character attacks instead of substantive issue-based distinctions” you cut us down for playing old school politics. Huh? What? Haleperin, I’m looking at YOU.
Only I’m not. I won’t look at these clowns anymore. They’re aiming for dog and pony shows and that’s what we get. What freaks me out is that somehow the fact that “this is how its done” is accpeted as fact. That somehow there is no other alternative in American politics for those who have embraced the GOP or the Clinton Family. Its the old way or no way at all.
Guess what? We’re dying out here. The ecomony is in the fucking toilet, the environment is crashing down around us (heard about flowers losing their scent… that bad, yes), and there was something else. What was it… can’t seem to remember what with all the concern about whether or not unemployed steel workers are sensitive about being called bitter. What was that other thing?
Oh yeah.
WE’RE AT FUCKING WAR!
I think its time for me to give Barry another $20.

I will say that at least you admit he looked bad last night, which he clearly did…
but why is it ABCs fault who Obama hangs out with? It isnt. If he wants to be President, he should answer for who he associates with.

That’s the problem Mr. Keeler, in a nutshell: it doesn’t matter who the hell he hangs out with. It doesn’t matter who Hilary hangs out with… at least not in the context of a DEBATE.
These are the times that the public is supposed to have a chance to see the candidates square off on the issues. Let that side distraction shit be dealt with on the Sunday morning talk shows where it belongs. Otherwise its just name calling time.
For 20 years now this cap has passed for politics… I think the most astute observation of the night belonged to my man Barry. That when the GOP ran roughshod over HC in the 90’s she learned the wrong lesson. She adopted their tactics. That’s not what I want out of my Dem leaders, and its why I’ve become so disenchanted with her.
Let this stuff be dragged out by the GOP come Oct. Let them try and derail the issues. This time its bigger than personality politics- doesn’t anyone see that in the Clinton camp?
I’d be a hell of a lot more comfortable with HC if all she was doing was attacking Obama on his policies… I might even be swayed becuase she holds her own so damn well in these debates. But then she has to pull the mudslinging shit and it just makes her look like another damn suit in my eyes. Its beneath her dignity.
